Strickland Conference With Keynote by Justice Sandra Day O’Connor Webcast Now Available

On November 17, the Constitution Project sponsored a groundbreaking conference on the Supreme Court’s 1984 decision in Strickland v. Washington, which set standards for asserting the right to the effective assistance of counsel. Held at the Law Library of Congress, the conference featured three engaging panel discussions and a keynote address by retired US Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, who authored the Strickland decision. Attendees heard from a wide range of litigators, political leaders, policy experts, and legal scholars on the distressing state of our nation’s indigent defense system.
